How To Find The Best "Instagram Worthy" Places While Traveling...

I am so glad to finally be sharing these fun photos from this wall in Las Vegas! I saw it on Pinterest before we got there and knew I had to find it! I bought these shoes in preparation for our trip, as well as this denim skirt from Bohme. I loved this top I found at target. Which is very similar to this darling top from Madewell.

I love planning out trips! I love planning out what I am going to where as well as where we are going to take pictures. When I plan ahead it makes traveling STRESS FREE or a lot less stressful, anyway. There is nothing worse to me than getting somewhere and having to looking through pages and pages on yelp to pick somewhere to eat. So let me share how we find fun places to visit and eat; as well as how we find the perfect places to take photos!

I plan enough that it gives us ideas, keeps us busy, but I also love to leave a little wiggle room so we can enjoy and have the freedom to do what we want. I promise I am not super strict when it comes to itinerary. So I usually have a list of a few places we would like to eat (breakfast, lunch and dinner), as well as places to see/activities to do. Colin and I both love to visit new places and eat new foods. It is one of the reasons we love to travel! So planning out our trips like this makes it fun for us, and has us looking forward to getting to see these new places!

1. Pinterest
Pinterest is going to be your best friend when planning a trip. It is always the first place I go when we talk about traveling somewhere. It is my #1 source for ideas on where to eat, places to visit, take pictures etc... There are so many articles and blog posts filled with ideas.

When I start to plan a trip I usually search a few different key phrases. Once I find the perfect articles/pins I create a board dedicated to that trip so I can go back and see where we want to go, see, eat...
Here are a few ideas and key phrases of what to search for:

"Best places to eat in _____"
"Places to visit while in _____"
"Best places to take photos in _____"
"Wall murals in _____"
"_____ wall guide"
"Best Instagrammable spots in _____"
"Most photographed places in _____"

It does take a little bit of time to sift through different posts to find the perfect ones for you, but I promise preparing before hand is a lot easier than struggling to find places once you're there!
{I also specifically look for "best desserts/treats" as well. I am all about splurging while on vacation and love the different treats cities have.}

2. Instagram
Instagram is another place I love to look at when planning a trip. It is the perfect place to look for those "instagram worthy" spots. Perfect since it is instagram (haha.) There are a few different ways I look these up.

I look up specific locations. If we are going to Las Vegas, NV I look up the location and browse through some of the photos to see if there are any places I like. (you can search. multiple locations around the area as well.)

I use hashtags to help narrow my search or give me ideas. {For example: #lasvegas}

Look at people you follow. It might not always help, but if someone I follow has traveled to somewhere I am going soon I love to look closely at their posts and instagram stories for inspiration. It really helps me get into my creative space and inspired by getting ideas.

No two people are going to photograph the something exactly the same, so it is fun to see the creativity in each post. It helps me look at things from a different perspective and gives me inspiration for how I want to photograph when traveling.

3. Yelp
I know, typical...but I promise it really helps. Of course all of us want to visit a place with some serious aesthetics! So Yelp is essential for helping you find the meal that is worthy for "the gram." Once we have a few ideas of where we want to eat I look up those places and browse through the menu. I am huge on having to see what my food is going to look like before I order/eat it. I don't know why, but pictures are a must when it comes to ordering. Thank goodness for Yelp! Or I would be stuck trying to pick for hours.

Most cities have a lot of unique places to eat that are specific to that city. Most of those places will also have a lot of fun dishes. I love going to the places with wacky menu items or over the top presentation, etc... It is part of the experience! So why not make it fun? It is fun to see what the dish looks like beforehand.

For example: I went to college at Utah State in Logan, Utah. There was a diner called ''Angie's." They had a really unique dessert called 'the sink.' It was literally a kitchen sink filled with ice cream. If you finished you got a bumper sticker that said, "I cleaned the sink at Angie's." Obviously no one could finish it themselves, but everyone ordered it because it was unique and fun!

So those are the things I look for while traveling! Maybe not a sink full of ice cream, but fun quirky places that you wouldn't find anywhere else.

Looking at the photos people post of their orders helps me decide what looks good. It gives me a few ideas of what to order before we get there so I'm not stuck looking at the menu. Once we are there I look back on the few items that looked good to me and I order whatever I am in the mood for!

I really wish all restaurants had pictures next to everything on the menu! Find me that place, and I will have to go! Because that place is meant for me.

I hope this post helped you get an idea of how we plan for trips and hopefully it gave you a few new ideas on how to find those perfect places to visit!

The Purple Sweater...

SWEATER: H&M (similar here & here) / PANTS: ASOS / BOOTS: Jane.com (similar here & here) / BAG: Gucci / HAT: H&M (similar here)

Happy Wednesday lovelies!
I am back to the real world and all I want to do is go back! It has been a world wind the past few days   and all I want to do is go back to the 70 degree weather! We came back to Utah in a downpour of snow. It has been quite the blizzard the past couple days.

I wanted to share one of my favorite go-to outfits this winter, since it is still winter here in Utah... A sweater, OTK boots and this hat. This has also been my favorite color combination for January. I can't get enough of this deep purple sweater. I might have worn it 3 days in a row...oops!

******

I also wanted to address something I talked about in my instastories yesterday. I was sent the cutest 'thank you' letter from the cutest blogger Lindsay Roberts! I honestly meant the world to me.

The real thing I wanted to say was that I love when readers, fellow bloggers, friends leave me comments, DMs and ask for advice. I am a normal person with a part time job and a pretty normal life. I want you to feel like you can approach me and talk to me as a friend. I am a big believer that you are more than how many followers you have on social media. I know there has been a huge social media battle about this, but I wanted to take a moment and address it. Your following on social media doesn't make you better than anyone else, or any less than anyone else. We are all people with struggles.

I love helping anyone and I will always be open and honest in my answers. Who knows what could be going on in peoples lives, and you never know what kind words will make a difference. That whole letter made my entire month. A simple act of kindness can go a long way. So as you continue to go throughout your week, just try to be kind!

To My Valentine...

Happy Valentines!
Since it is a special day I wanted to share a special post. I know I don't share a ton of posts about marriage or my personal life. But since it is a day all about love, I figured I would get a little mushy and share all the little things I love about Colin! We are going to be celebrating our 5 year anniversary this year! It is crazy how fast those past 5 years have gone by. I guess time flies when you're having fun right? Ever since we started dating Colin has always spoiled me to death! So ever since we have gotten married I have tried to spoil him right back.

I love that he is my biggest supporter and always pushes me to go after my dreams.
I love that he is my biggest comforter and always knows exactly how to cheer me up.
I love how handsome he is, because he is extremely good looking!!
I love how patient he is with me, especially when I have a case of the hangries.
I love that he watches 'The Bachelor' with me every week, and he likes it!
I love that whenever I cry in movies, tv shows, most everything, he gives me the cutest smile and holds my hand.
I love how affectionate he is, and that he isn't afraid of a little PDA! It was one of the criteria when we were dating, because I am a little needy (haha)
I love that he is hilarious and always making our marriage fun!
I also love that he has a never ending supply of 'dad jokes.'
I love that he still surprises me.
I love that he loves to travel with me. It is our favorite thing to do together.
I love that he is mister 'fix it,' and I can always take my problems to him.
I love that he is so friendly and outgoing. He can literally strike up a conversation with anyone and be friends in two minutes. I wish I had that skill.
I love love love his dimple! He has one in his right cheek. When we first started dating it made me swoon every time he smiled.
I love his dance moves. Although they might not be super refined, they are his and I love them!
I love that he is mine.
I love that we are partners in all things.
I love that he is my forever Valentine.

There are a million and one reasons why I love Colin. Those are just a few. I honestly could go on and on for hours!

I hope you all have an incredible Valentines Day! Whether it is spent with a loved one, Galentine, or at the movies watching the latest chick flick, know you are loved!

The Velvet Dress Of Your Dreams...

DRESS: Ivy City Co / SHOES: ASOS (similar here & here) / NECKLACE: BaubleBar / LIPS: Birthday Suit by Tarte
Photography: Brittany Marie Photo

I got an email a couple weeks ago asking if this velvet dress was going to be up on my blog. So I thought I would finally share the details of this outfit! This velvet dress of your dreams is from Ivy City Co, and it is fully stocked! I am so glad that velvet has made its way back!

I have always had a special little place in my heart for velvet dresses. When I was a little girl I had a navy velvet dress with a little white flower on the front. It was my favorite dress in my closet and I begged my mom to let me wear it every Sunday! (Which I probably did.) I remember it felt so luxurious when I was a little girl, and it made me feel like a princess wearing that navy dress. Velvet might not have the same "princess effect" today that it did back then, but I have loved velvet ever since.

I thought I would share a few of my favorite velvet pieces to date!

I've Got Heart Eyes For This Valentines Gift Guide...

TOP: ASOS / SKIRT: ASOS (similar here) / BAG: Gucci / SHOES: Forever 21 (similar here & here) / SUNGLASSES: Vans (similar here) / LIPS: Perfect Red by NYX

Happy Friday lovelies! I have major heart eyes for the weekend!
I am excited to share this Valentine inspired outfit, as well as a little gift guide for the upcoming holiday! When it comes to gift giving, it is a big deal for me! I usually always put my heart and soul into each gift, no matter the occasion. I have to spend at least 30 minutes reading all the cards until I have picked the perfect one. It is a running joke between Colin and I that I have to read every card in the store before I can make a decision. (I wish it wasn't so true...) I like to put a lot of thought into the gifts I give so it is perfectly tailored to who I am giving it to.

Since I love planning out gifts, I thought I would share some of my favorite finds under $50 and under $100 for this Valentines. Along with the usual chocolate and flowers, it is so fun to look for other trinkets to gift. I think it is important to make the gifts you give thoughtful. It doesn't go unnoticed or unappreciated.

I hope all these gifts give you all the heart eyes, and you have the best 'National Pizza Day' by celebrating and eating a slice!

Keep Calm & Wear Pink...

TOP: Forever 21 (similar here) / PANTS: Forever 21 (under $10!) / JACKET: ASOS (similar here & here) / BAG: Gucci / SHOES: Valentino
Photography: Brittany Marie Photo

I hope you like red and pink! Because since it's the month of love there is a whole bunch coming your way! Before I was married my mom use to give me and my sister cute little Valentines gifts full of goodies. I also would always go see the latest chick-flick or Nicholas Sparks movie. Call me a sap...

Along with all the typical Valentines activities, I would pick out the perfect Valentines attire to go with it! A pink and red color palette was a must. Every year we always focus on loving others, but I also feel like it is important to love ourselves. So not only spend this time showing how much you care about others, but take a little time to pamper yourself.

Buy some flowers to freshen up the house, or buy that item you've had your eye on! It doesn't have to be much, but in the words of Tom Haverford, "Treat Yourself!"
How are you going to spend Valentines this year?
