Mixing Textures...

DRESS: Jessa Kae (similar here & here) / JACKET: Jessa Kae (on sale for $40, same here) / BAG: Charming Charlie / SHOES: Valentino / EARRINGS: Charming Charlie / LIPS: Birthday Suit by Tarte

Happy Monday! I can't believe how the weekend has blown by already! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and got to spend it with those that you love! I always tend to over eat and then have a Thanksgiving nap afterwards. I think that is one of the reasons I love Thanksgiving so much. It is the only holiday dedicated to eating food and taking naps.

Did any of you decided to brave the stores and do some Black Friday shopping? I stayed at home and browsed some amazing deals online with my husband. If you missed my last post it is dedicated to all the Black Friday sales! There are some amazing deals that are still going on. Check out my post here so you can get some last minute shopping in!

I got a few days off of work last week for Thanksgiving, and I enjoyed every minute of it! It was great that Colin had some time off as well since his schedule has been crazy lately! We put up our Christmas tree, which I am so excited about! We watched Home Alone 1 and 2, while we set it up. Then cuddled next to the cozy light of the tree while we finished the second movie. There is nothing I love more than putting up our Christmas Tree. We got it last year at Tai Pan Trading, and it has been my pride and joy ever since. I have dreamed about having a gorgeous tree like this for a long time, and it was wonderful to see that dream come tree last year!

This outfit I am sharing today was my Sunday best. I love dressing up on Sunday's and I absolutely LOVE lace dresses. I probably have at least 10 sitting in my closet. Lately I have been loving mixed textures when I am picking out an outfit. I love how this lace details looks against this layered shaggy jacket (which is on sale for $45! It is regularly $60! Don't miss out on this deal!) . I love mixing and matching!

I also can't wait to start posting some holiday looks! Red sweaters and lipstick, here I come! I know I have been a little obsessed with Birthday Suit by Tarte lately, but I think I am well overdue for some red lips. It is definitely my favorite to wear this time of year!

Have a fabulous Monday and don't forget that "being happy never goes out of style!"

Custard Pear Pie...

With Thanksgiving only a couple days away I wanted to share my favorite pie recipe! It is such an easy pie to make that is absolutely delicious and not very common. It is the perfect pie if you need any last minute dessert ideas!

My mom got the recipe a couple years ago and it has been a family favorite ever since. She told me she had a piece of pear pie for me! I didn't even know there was such a thing as pear pie, but it is by far my favorite pie out there! We made it for Thanksgiving a couple years ago and it went fast!

Before we get started you will need to make sure you have all the necessary ingredients. It is a pretty short list. I was surprised by the ingredients! They aren't anything special, but they make a great pie. All these ingredients are for 1 pie. If you are wanted to make 2 I would either recommend doubling it, or making 2 separate batches. I usually make 2 at a time, and do 2 separate batches of ingredients to make sure each pie is getting exactly the amount they should.

INGREDIENTS (for 1 pie):
- 3-5 pears
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1/4 cup of flour
- 1/4 cup of butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp of vanilla
- 1-2 pre made crusts

First we will want to preheat our ovens to Bake at 350.

Starting out you will want about 3-5 pears. I usually buy the pears and let them sit for a few days. I like them ripe, or a little overly ripe before I put them in my pie. Once they are ripened to your satisfaction put 3-5 pears that are cored, peeled, and sliced into an uncooked pie crust.

It says 3-5 because you just want to make sure the pie tin/crust is filled with pears, but not have it piling over the top.
Next, mix the following ingredients in a bowl and mix until creamy.

- 1 cup of sugar
- 1/4 cup of flour
- 1/4 cup of butter (softened)
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp of vanilla

After it is creamy, you want to pour that mixture into the crust. Do not mix it will the pears. Just let it sit on top and seep into the pie.

You will want to place the pie in the oven and Bake @ 350 for 60 minutes.
You want your pie to look golden on top. My pie got cooked for a little too long, but it tasted absolutely delicious! I added a little powdered sugar on top for garnish, but you can also leave it.

A fun way to spruce up your pie is by buying an extra pre made pie crust and adding parts of it to the top. You don't want to completely cover the top of the pie, but you can make it your own.

If you are wanting to make your own pie crust instead of buying a pre-made one, here is my favorite pie crust recipe:

Pie Crust: (makes 2 crusts)
- 2 1/2 cups of flour
- 1 tsp of salt
- 1 cup butter flavor crisco
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup of cold water

Mix ingredients until well blended. Then roll out until satisfied.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and get to eat all the wonderful food and yummy desserts! If you make this pie for Thanksgiving, or for any occasion, I would love to know what you think! Happy baking!

A Fall Dress To Wear To Thanksgiving Dinner...

DRESS: JessaKae (old, similar here & here) / SHOES: Copper Theory (similar here & here) / BAG: Charming Charlie (Kate Spade dupe) / LIPS: Birthday Suit by Tarte

Happy weekend! I love having a break from the week, but the weekends always seem to go by way too fast!

I wore this dress last Sunday to church and I can honestly say I am surprised I haven't worn it more! I bought it last year from JessaKae and have hardly worn it. It is so flattering and it is made of the softest material. Almost velvet like. I love the dark floral pattern as well! It makes it perfect for this time of year!

This is my third Thanksgiving look. It is a more dressy look,  but not too over the top. Sometimes it is nice to dress up a little for Thanksgiving dinner. The wonderful thing about this dress is that you can dress it down as well! Add a hat and a denim jacket and voila! The perfect fall outfit!

Since this floral dress has since sold out, I wanted to link a few of my favorite floral dresses that are very appropriate for fall!

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend and travel safely this next week for Thanksgiving!

The Confetti Sweater You Need For Thanksgiving...

SWEATER: Target / PANTS: ASOS / BOOTS: Jane.com (similar here) / BAG: Charming Charlie / SUNGLASSES: Karen Walker / EARRINGS: Charming Charlie (similar here) / LIPS: Birthday Suit by Tarte

Here is my second outfit to wear to on Thanksgiving! I have been loving 'winter whites'. Who says you can't wear white after Labor Day?

Since I have been loving this sweater from Target, I have been wearing it non stop! Does anyone else wear the same outfit/sweater a million days in a row when they find something they love so much? I really need one in every color.

An oversized sweater and over the knee boots are a great, easy way to dress for the holidays. You can also wear this with ankle boots, or a cute jacket if it is a little chilly! Anyone else exciting for all the delicious food next week?

This year we are spending Thanksgiving with my in-laws. We switch off every year with each others families and it is always so fun! What are you all doing for the holidays?
